Oleksiy Prokopenko
Kavinsky’s passenger, the ever-present Prokopenko. The latter had always been friendly with Kavinsky, in the sort of way that an electron was friendly with a nucleus, but lately, he seemed to have acquired official crony status.

Personality
• Would do anything for the dreampack but K always comes first; he'd do anything for Kavinsky
• Considers Kavinsky his best friend, and has for a long time, since well before he became a dreamthing
• Not afraid to challenge K and looks out for his well-being when he deems it necessary. This has intensified since becoming a dreamthing, partially because he's aware of how awful the trauma of his death was for Kavinsky, partially because he knows the guilt weighs heavy on K's shoulders, and partially because he knows what K's capable of now and a lot more of the shit he's been through, including how much he's struggling
• Would and has beaten the shit out of anyone who screws with Kavinsky. Sometimes because K asks him to, but most usually because Proko can't stand seeing Kavinsky bruised and/or bloody and/or upset, and knowing the guys who did it feel like they can get away with it
• Smokes weed and dabbles in various drugs, mostly at parties. He'll also do whatever dream drugs he's given; he trusts Kavinsky
• More chill and pliable when he's high, less likely to argue or protest things, but also more likely to make stupid decisions
• Drinks a lot, though typically only at parties
• A sloppy drunk and prone to spilling, tripping, puking, etc., especially if he's also high at the same time
• Enjoys getting fucked up in the drunk/high sense. It gets him out of his head, makes all of his problems seem far away for a while
• Smokes (cigarettes)
• At times aggressive and violent; prone to fighting depending on how foul his mood is. However, most of the time he's pretty laid back and friendly
• Secretly kind of soft and a bit of a romantic
• He might not always be vocal about it, but he's actually pretty snuggly. The same goes for kissing and other physical affection; he'll soak it up like a sponge

• While he's fond of all of the boys in the dreampack and considers them his only real friends, people who know him best, he's especially fond of not just Kavinsky, but also Swan
• Sometimes, Proko is aware of the way Swan looks at him, like he's admiring him (or checking him out), but since Swan's never said anything about it, neither has Proko. Not that he'd be opposed to it coming up, but because if Swan is not obviously comfortable with the topic, Proko isn't going to push it
• While he's not sure exactly how he feels, in terms of anything romantic, he does think Swan's ridiculously attractive and admires his strength and determination to look out for his friends
• He enjoys spending time with Swan, either studying together, racing each other, or just enjoying each other's company. He was also genuinely delighted and amused when Swan got a Golf of his own for his birthday, and maybe teased him a little, affectionately, about it
• He knows he's a dreamthing, but tries not to think about what that means too hard--most of the time. Every now and then though, he dwells on things too much and gets really fucked up about his state of existence now
• He doesn't actually remember his death. Part of him is upset that Kavinsky's robbed him of the memory of what happened, but he also knows it's a kindness, that not being able to remember it is one less thing to haunt him, and that K was trying to lessen his pain
• He struggles with a bit of imposter syndrome since his death and sometimes worries he's not human anymore. He's not sure what he is, exactly, and he's not sure if he counts as 'the same' as his original self. He also can't help but wonder sometimes, if he's continuing the same existence, the same consciousness, or if 'Prokopenko' as a person is dead and gone forever. Does he count as an entirely new person? Does he have all of his memories? How would he tell if he doesn't? It's all very existential dread and he hates the thoughts and the spiraling more than anything else about the situation (except the fact he died in the first place)

History
• Grew up in New Hampshire, where he was born. His parents immigrated a few years beforehand, from Ukraine
• His parents liked the idea of a Ukrainian name for him, rather than an American one
• He met Kavinsky shortly after his family moved to Henrietta when Proko was 15
• Was aloof and more-or-less friendless before meeting Kavinsky
• He's his grandma's favorite grandson--not her only grandson, because he has cousins, but he's definitely her favorite. She's always been kind to him, interested in hearing about his interests and how he's doing in school and what his aspirations are. She also tends to spoil him a little when no one else will know, ie, a homemade batch of his favorite cookies, a little extra spending money, that sort of thing. He's also felt safe in coming out to her and talking about being gay, and she's been accepting and supportive. She does not, however, know about the sort of shenanigans he gets up to in Henrietta, like street racing and the extent of Kavinsky's parties and such
• His grandma is also why he's not quite fluently bilingual, but can hold a decent conversation in Ukrainian. She's more comfortable holding conversations in Ukrainian, due to still learning English, and he wants to be able to converse with her more easily, so he's learning. It also makes her happy to see his progress and help him with language things, and her happiness, considering their good relationship, makes him happy
• Mostly has a good relationship with his parents and the rest of his family. His cousins are alright, but a few of his aunts and uncles are difficult to have conversations with, due to having very strict ideas of what he (and his cousins) should do with their lives
• Drives a white Volkswagen Golf, which was an early birthday present, waiting for him for a few months before his 16th birthday
• The real Proko died when he was 17. It was accidental and avoidable (something Proko is painfully aware that Kavinsky has never forgiven himself for). The two of them were hanging out at Kavinsky's one night while his mother was out, drinking and getting a little high. Proko had too much to drink, and he and Kavinsky were messing around, playfully rough-housing. He personally doesn't remember the exact details that led to him falling and hitting his head on the edge of the table, so he doesn't know if Kavinsky blames himself so much because he was directly involved, or if Proko was too drunk to keep his balance and fell on his own. He only knows the head injury proved fatal and that Kavinsky dreamed a copy of him after realizing he was dead. Proko's never asked what happened to his original body
• The rest of the pack doesn't know he's a dreamthing, and neither does his family, of course. The only other person to know, actually, is Ronan (after a certain point, when Kavinsky brings it up to him)
